1. Address by Charles Fillmore, * Wednesday Evening, 5/9/17. About the first question the beginner asks is, "How do you do your healing, anyway? What is your system of treating?" Now the answer to that question is, that we do not "treat" people, we havn’t any system of healing primarily; we simply pray that the Creator of man will restore him to his natural condition. God made man perfect, and there is no reason why he should not be restored to that perfection. All that we can do is to pray that that restoration may come. The Bible from beginning to end, is full of illustrations of man being healed through what is commonly called prayer, - but there are many kinds of prayers. There are the prayers of faith. Paul said, "Through your faith, hare understanding. Now the better acquainted you are with God, the more ' powerful your prayer will become; you will become a very successful, as we say, "demonstrator" of this Truth if you familiarize yourself with God. How will you familiarize yourself with God? By studying the Bible? That i3 a great help, but it is the Spirit that maketh alive, and we must get at the God-presence, the God-power; that is, we must get at God Himself, - a little deeper than the mere letter. Now if Jesus Christ had studied the scriptures only, he would not have arrived at the ability to perform his so-called miracles. So we must know the spirit of the Word. Now the Word, you know, existed before the Bible was written. It was only within the last few hundred years that the Bible ha3 been put in its present shape, but all down the ages, there have been people who knew about God. How did they find out about God? Through inner revelation, through studying with understanding, through corranunion with God. You will remember in the time of Elijah the prophet, he went off into the wilderness, thinking he was deserted, yet God was with him; Jehovah was there, Jehovah provided for him. He told him to go out and stand on the mountain. That means to get into a higher state of consciousness. We will see th^t that was an intellectual consciousness. There was a great wind went up, but Jehovah was not in the wind. Then there was an earthquake, but Jehovah was not in that; and then there was a fire, but Jehovah was not in the fire. And then Jehovah told Elijah to go into a cave. We find there are metaphors all through the scriptures. When Jesus Christ told the desciples to go into a closet, that is a parallel of Elijah going into the cave. After these outer manifestations had gone by, he went into the cave, and threw a mantle over his head, and he was told what to do. And so, if we are to know God, we must get very close to God. Where is God? Off in the sky somewhere. He must be on a throne. No. If we would find Him we must pray in a still, small voice. If we go into this closet and get away from the outer tumult and turmoil and fire, ----- while Jehovah or the law of God is manifest in this outer world, yet to the man-consciousness it is a whirlwind or an earthquake or a fire, --- but you will never know God until you get into the quiet workings of nature, that restores. What is it that heals the broken bone3 and restores you to the health you have been in? You say. Nature. Well, it is God. It is the still working of the Spirit. That still- force has wonderful intelligence. It works in ways that even the best of physicians do not understand. These things that he gives you are just to help nature, or the healing power of nature. But stimulate that healing power of nature. , You can believe in the radience of strength and health, and you will get well a great deal quicker than if you don't believe you are going to get well, and are going to be sick a long while. Any doctor will tell you that. But suppose you can get back and find the primally creative Mind, what would be the result? We could quickly bring into action all these silent forces . Man is the epitome, the concentration in the highest, of this Mind. This force which restores one when sick, can be brought into increased healing force through prayer; that is, to conscious union with the still small voice, and the still, small voice is the all-creative power. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." There was a creative Word. You can call it "Thought", if you please, but it is a creative power, but the action of that power, brought to bear upon one thing, is the mightiest power in the universe. Nothing can withstand that. If you know how to pray, you have solved the whole problem. This is, then, the science of prayer; the science of the one creative mind. Following along the lines in which it works, good is always constructive. It is the chaotic condition of mind that throws discord (?) into these great outer conditions. The violence of the cyclone is the violence of thoughts" of evil. So, evil is the result of man's wrong thought. How shall we right these things? Just as we right the tumultuous conditions of our own thoughts; - by getting into communion with the father-[ \ mind, and s&ying to that father-mind, "l£ake me whole." But there must be an understanding of the Truth. Give him the power and the strength, and if you can realize those almighty forces welling up in you, and that river of life flowing through you, nothing can prevent you from being absolutely made whole. Just as whole as Jesus Christ was. ♦ How whole was he? So whole that death could not hold him in the tomb. And if we unify ourselves with the healing river of life, our bodies are restored to health. We have no occult power. No. We trust God; we believe in God; and study God in his primal and original Being. We do not like study God second-handed. We are Just like children. Our 5. Almighty Father has given us things, and among those things are health, wealth, joy and satisfaction. He has given us every good thing. The Father knoweth before ye ask. Ask whatsoever ye will in my name, and it shall be done. Your Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. Why don’t we have them? We pray amiss. We think through our loud shouting, as if He were a way off somewhere, we are going to get results. The only difference between scientific prayer and ignorant prayer is that one looks to God without and the other within. If you would do effective praying and have God answer your prayer, be still; be still and know that I am God. Be still I Now let us be still just a moment, and each one ask the omnipresent power to heal us absolutely. Be so still Chat you can feel that power as an active force penetrating your whole body, from the top of your head to soles of your shoes. Close your eyes and be still. Close your ears and be still. Say to yourself, "Be still, and know that I am God. SILENCE.
